Carnival has just finished in the Capital of Samba and while the city gets ready to host the next Soccer World Cup 2014 and Olympics Games 2016, one of its greatest newspapers  Jornal O DIA dedicated a half page article to Brazilian Singer Juliana Areias –  Bossa Nova Baby next album in the International Women’s Day. Juliana Areias, the Bossa Nova Baby is back to the Ellington Jazz Club celebrating “another trip around the sun”. This time, the full tide (“Mare Cheia”) of our new year brings to you the waves of top bossa nova classics and Juliana Areias’ original music created in collaboration with dear friends and talents from the four corners of the globe.

Mare cheia”: on the rise concert is a unique opportunity to embark on a special celebration of Juliana’s musical journey listening with exclusivity to some of the original songs, including “Mare cheia”, that will feature on Juliana’s first album currently under production.

Performed for the very first time at the Ellington Jazz Club by Graham Wood (piano), Marcio Mendes (guitar / percussion), Paul Millard (sax/flute), Pete Jeavons (bass) and Chris Tarr (drums); this milestone performance melds music notes and life adventures that carry flavours and influences from Juliana’s favourite composers such as Villa-Lobos, Tom Jobim, Djavan, Baden Powell, Joao Bosco and Lenine.

Sao Paulo and now, Sydney here we go again !

Juliana Areias - Perth Samba Social Club Marcio Mendes Perth International Jazz Festival 2013 CROPAfter the São Paulo premiere of Samba Resolution, documentary that features Juliana Areias, Marcio Mendes & the Perth Samba Social Club, for the third consecutive year Juliana Areias heads to Sydney to perform at the Ritmo Brazilian Day, this Sunday, 15/9, from 2:30pm.

It has been quite an exciting couple of months for Juliana Areias with many interesting performances. One of them, at the Perth International Jazz Festival, was captured by the lenses of the Perth-based film director Antony Webb, winner of the past “Young Filmmaker of the Year”.

Juliana Areias Perth Samba Social Club Perth International Jazz Festival Stage 2013 CROPThe premiere of Samba Resolution was organised by its producer, Claudia Rondon, and happened on the 10th of September in São Paulo at Cinematilha, Matilha Cultural – a renowed space that supports culture. Journalists, Austrade – Consulate of Australia in São Paulo as well as sponsors from Socana Cachaça and Yes Australia were present at the event.
