Missed the show last year? No fear, Emily Gelineau is back with her band (and a special guest, to be announced…..) to present to you the wonder that is, the Jazz Violin. Whether it’s Gypsy Jazz that you enjoy, the sweetness of the violin with some ballads, or fast fancy finger work, Emily takes you on a journey of the history of this beautiful instrument in jazz. Inspired by the likes of Stephane Grappeli, Joe Venuti, Didier Lockwood, Jean Luc Ponty and many others, violinist Emily Gelineau is joined by iconic Perth jazz musicians Pete Jeavons, Kristian Borring, Ryan Daunt, and will be a night to remember.   Accompanied by the West Coast Philharmonic Orchestra and led by conductor Samuel Parry, Noongar singer Natasha Eldridge will perform two original songs and much-loved favourite I Am Australian. Iain Grandage’s Left Edge and Lachlan Skipworth’s Hinterland will depict the sheer beauty of our local oceans and landscapes respectively, along with guest oboist Alexandra Allan in Graeme Koehne’s breathtaking Way Out West. The West Coast Philharmonic Chorus will perform an inspiring song recounting the history of Pemulwuy, and Ruth McCall’s captivating arrangement of Waltzing Matilda.

  The concert will bring to life Christopher Tin’s Grammy award-winning Calling All Dawns. Featuring a swathe of guest artists, this monumental song cycle in 12 languages depicting life (day), death (night) and rebirth (dawn) is sure to resonate with the rich cultural diversity within our community.

This year sees WAMFest presented by Act-Belong-Commit team up with City of Stirling for the return of Scarbs Beach Party. This free entry, all-ages event is, inspired by the hub of musical talent and live music venues thriving in the beach-side suburb of Scarborough for many years. The Scarbs Beach Party continues the WAMFest goal of showcasing and celebrating local contemporary musicians with the broader community and celebrates everything this buzzing suburb has to offer.

Estreia da Série Brasilidades do Bossa Nova Productions, que recebe de braços abertos Juliana Areias, a cantora e compositora brasileira, que é sucesso na Austrália com seu álbum autoral “Bossa Nova Baby”.

No repertório do show, as 12 faixas originais do álbum, — um mix muito interessante de jazz, funk americano, tango, choro, pop e, claro, muita bossa nova — compostas com parceiros do Brasil, Europa, Austrália e Nova Zelândia, e mais quatro deliciosos arranjos para clássicos como “Garota de Ipanema”, “Águas de Março” e “Rio”.

After many years of making large-scale public artworks like Totem at the Perth Arena, Drake-Brockman’s first commercial gallery exhibition in over a decade showcases painting, static sculpture and interactive installation. The prominently placed reflective surface is a key motif of the artist—and serves to embed the viewer into the artwork, and to signal the possibility of a portal into another world. With his background in Computer Science, these other worlds are virtual, futuristic domains which evoke “Robot Mythologies”—stories about emotional bridges between real people and created beings.
