As part of WAMFest presented by Act-Belong-Commit, we’re pleased to reveal the 2019 WAMAwards nominees and details for this year’s Awards night celebrations!

Leading the nominations this year for a second year in a row is Albany-born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve, with her hard-hitting live show and relatable lyricism earning her a whopping eight award nominations – including Best Rock Act, Best Single, Best EP, Best Music Video and Best Guitarist. Following closely is producer and R&B soul artist Jamilla (Emily Branson) with six nominations including Best Live Electronic Act, Best Electronic Producer, Best Single and Best Music Video for her emotive, hard-hitting release Bloom. Demon Days, Sly Withers and Stella Donnelly all follow with four award nominations apiece, with GAZEY, Grace Barbé, Grievous Bodily Calm, MissGenius, Nika Mo, Noah Dillon, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Spacey Jane all coming in with three each. Please join us in congratulating all the talented 2019 WAMAwards nominees – many of which are set to play as part of WAMFest presented by Act-Belong-Commit.

This year also sees the debut of the prestigious Artist of the Year Award to be decided by a specialty panel of Industry judges. WAM CEO, Mike Harris, says of the new award:

Recognising the origins of WAM being artist and music driven, it is important to continue to recognise the work of artists; this year WAM will present a best-of-the-best award from the genre award winners as the WA Artist of the Year.

While over 300 industry judges decide who will take out top prizes across the 31 award categories, we’re also calling on WA music fans to have their say; with WAMAwards public voting now open. This year you can vote for all your local favourites across five public award categories, including Most Popular Live Act, Most Popular New Act and Most Popular Venue. Don’t dilly-dally, head to http://pilerats.com/news/wam-awards-2019-public-voting  to cast your vote before 11.59PM AWST Thursday October 10th.

Winners will be revealed Thursday October 31st at the annual WAMAwards, which this year returns to the luxurious Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth. With the WAMi’s prestigious home boasting luxe-vibes and first-class facilities, this year’s high-quality affair will be a true reflection of the immense talent recognised throughout the awards. Guests are encouraged to leave the ripped jeans at home and dial up the style for a lively evening celebrating WA music’s very best. Your support is very precious to me. Thank you so much for your generous vote and for being part of this journey!

The Focus Brasil Press Award is the most important event for Brazilian Culture and Arts in the USA.

After the craziness of living four months in the USA with the loves of my life, my partner and kids, to promote our artistic works there; investing so much courage, energy, money, time, hard work and emotion – it is humbly gratifying to be nominated among so many amazing artists… including many of our new incredibly talented friends and also one of my idols – Grammy & Latin Grammy finalist Antonio Adolfo (composer of “Sa Marina” and many other Brazilian iconic songs). Congratulation to all nominees! To be nominated alongside you is an enormous privilege… Thank you to the Focus Brasil Foundation team for all the opportunities and to all our old and new friends in the USA for opening the doors, your arms and your hearts, welcoming us so well…

I am eternally grateful to all of you…

Thank you so much for voting at www.focusbrasil.org (for Juliana Areias – Bossa Nova Baby in categories 7 and 8 for Best Musical Presentation and Best Brazilian Music CD).
