Ginga is a Brazilian word that describes the signature element, the malleable bilateral motion and spirit that Brazilians present in everyday life – always keeping in rhythm. The Ginga Brazil Concert repertoire embraces several shades of the Brazilian music spectrum and its resonance upon jazz and other international musical styles. Performing compositions by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Pixinguinha, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Joao Bosco, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Joyce and Lenine; the concert also brings original tunes composed by Juliana with local and international music partners around the world.
While living in New Zealand, Juliana performed at the Auckland Festival and worked for the University of Auckland as a Brazilian music expert. Her official debut in Perth happened in 2009, a full house concert at Kulcha, performing with the local band Aquarela and afterwards creating the So Brazil Duo with the Brazilian guitarist/ bassist Jose Henrique Alves; performing at Live@Woodside and the Chilli Festival in 2009, and at the Sculptures by the Sea Exhibition in Cottesloe Beach in 2010.
Juliana said, “I am glad to be part of sunset@subi and having the opportunity of celebrating music, Subi, summer, nature, outdoor living and cultural diversity all at once. What a great idea! I am looking forward to it!”
