From music to literature… The pleasure of having my first poem in English published by Peafowl Magazine this month, along with a total of eight selected writers for this year’s edition. You can join us at the launch on Wed 10 Sep, 6.30pm at EZONE Social (Room G03 of UWA’s EZONE Building). A free event where you can get your free copy of the magazine.
This writing trajectory started when I was 13 years old, in Brazil, writing in my mother tongue, Portuguese – and progressed in the form of songwriting.
The last time I had a poem published was in Switzerland in 1999, when I received first prize in a Literature Award – Portuguese Language Category. At the time, I would not dare to write in French, and I am still very self-conscious about writing in English – but being an English Literature student at UWA now and being selected for this publication gives me encouragement.
I am loving being a full-time student and having the chance to expand my artistic and intellectual mind, guided by a dream team of lecturers and tutors who genuinely love what they do. Thank you for welcoming all of us into your universe.
Also, thanks to Centre for Stories @centreforstories and @elevenconsulting_11 for their storytelling workshop just before I started uni this year, where I met a beautiful group of people, storytellers and writers.
